چکیده

Catalysts based on functionalised carbon nanofibers (FCNF) coated with Ni-decorated MoS2 nanosheets were obtained by direct decomposition of ammonium thiomolybdate and nickel nitrate impregnated on the FCNF under controlled temperature conditions in inert atmosphere. The catalysts were characterised by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption, Raman spectroscopy, temperature programmed reduction of sulfur species (TPR-S), NH3 temperature programmed desorption (NH3-TPD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Decomposition temperature was found to have a paramount importance in the formation of uniform MoS2 slabs, as revealed by the TEM study: at 600 °C, non-uniform covering of the carbon nanofiber (CNF) was observed * Corresponding authors: (I.S.) On the other hand, at 450 °C CNF appeared homogeneously covered by amorphous MoS2 slabs decorated with Ni, resulting in higher amount of coordinated unsaturated sites (CUS), as determined by TPR-S. Catalysts were tested in the hydroprocessing of a vacuum residue and the results were compared against a benchmark alumina-supported NiMo catalyst. Higher asphaltene conversions were obtained for the CNF-supported catalysts prepared at 450 °C, which overperformed the Al2O3-supported benchmark catalyst. However, the catalytic performance in hydrodesulfurisation and hydrodemetallisation of the CNFbased catalysts was slightly lower than that of the benchmark catalyst.

We synthesized Ag nanoparticle-decorated multilayered graphene nanosheets (Ag-graphene) from graphite nanoplatelets and silver nitrate through 90-100 s of microwave exposure, without the use of any mineral acids or harsh reducing agents. Fe nanoparticle-decorated carbon nanotubes (Fe-CNTs) were grown on polypyrrole (PPy) deposited on woven Kevlar fibre (WKF), using ferrocene as a catalyst, unde...

Core–shell titanium dioxide /carbon nanofibers decorated nickel nanoparticles as supports for electrocatalytic oxidation of ethanol

Abstract Recently alcohol fuel cells has been increased consideration because of their environmental friendliness, high energy conversion efficiency and low emissions. Many effort have been made to improve the electro-oxidation performance of alcohols such as methanol, ethanol and propanol. In this work, a new method for ethanol oxidation based on core–shell titanium dioxide / carbon nanofib...

Ultrathin sandwich-like MoS2@N-doped carbon nanosheets for anodes of lithium ion batteries.

In this work, we report on a simple and scalable process to synthesize the core-shell nanostructure of MoS2@N-doped carbon nanosheets (MoS2@C), in which polydopamine is coated on the MoS2 surface and is then carbonized. An intensive investigation using transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy reveals that the as-synthesized MoS2@C possesses a nanoscopic and ultrathin layer of MoS...

Ruthenium nanocrystal decorated vertical graphene nanosheets@Ni foam as highly efficient cathode catalysts for lithium-oxygen batteries

The electrochemical performance of lithium-oxygen (Li-O2) batteries can be markedly improved through designing the architecture of cathode electrodes with sufficient spaces to facilitate the diffusion of oxygen and accommodate the discharge products, and optimizing the cathode catalyst to promote the oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, we report the synthesis ...

Hydroprocessing of Jatropha Oil for Production of Green Diesel over Non-sulfided Ni-PTA/Al2O3 Catalyst

The non-sulfided Ni-PTA/Al2O3 catalyst was developed to produce green diesel from the hydroprocessing of Jatropha oil. The Ni-PTA/Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by one-pot synthesis of Ni/Al2O3 with the co-precipitation method and then impregnanting Ni/Al2O3 with PTA solution. The catalysts were characterized with BET, SEM-EDX, TEM, XRD, XPS, TGA and NH3-TPD. The Ni and W species of the Ni-PTA/Al2...
